Have you ever felt the importance of gratitude in our lives? Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.
People feel and express gratitude in multiple ways. They can apply it to the past (retrieving positive memories and being thankful for elements of childhood or past blessings), the present (not taking good fortune for granted as it comes), and the future (maintaining a hopeful and optimistic attitude). Regardless of the inherent or current level of someone’s gratitude, it’s a quality that individuals can successfully cultivate further.
Gratitude not only affects our lives in a positive way but also the lives of others. When we offer gratitude towards others, their happiness, and self-importance increases to a happier extent.
I am writing this blog to share my experience with gratitude. I was just asked to say Thank You to the people who have inspired, helped, and supported me. I thought a lot about the people who have been really important for me and who have a very creative role in my life. Obviously parents are on the top of the list when it comes to offering gratitude. And then there are teachers, siblings, and friends. But I thought to write gratitude and appreciation letter to the people to whom I have never said a Thank you. But their role was really very important. I wrote a letter to my Mom and one of best teachers. I was feeling shy while making these Thank You cards. But it was also important to offer them gratitude. So I wrote what I really think about them. Although this one card is not really enough to thank them for all of their support, guidance, inspiration, and everything they gave to me; but sometimes happiness comes into small packets. And this act of gratitude can make them happy enough. I just can’t wait anymore to know their response.
So, people! If you too haven’t thanked someone who deserves your gratitude, go and thank them by sending cards or any appreciation letter. You can thank them in the most beautiful way you like. Don’t wait! Just do it.
